The Media Communications Association International (MCA-I) Detroit Chapter is offering scholarships for college or trade school video production, graphic design or web design and programming students.
The MCA-I is an international organization of over 2,000 members world wide serving the professional needs of visual communicators. The association provides networking and professional development opportunities for its members and also seeks to advance the media professional and promote the growth of quality video, graphics and web-related media.
Bill Rigstad is one of the founding members of the Detroit ITVA/MCA-I chapter and long term supporter of communications internships at Ford Motor Company. This scholarship is named in his honor for his continuing dedication to the young people in the communications industry.
The candidates would have professional aspirations as a producer, director, writer, editor, graphic specialist, web designer or programmer, or other goals related to the communication industry. Winning recipients will receive:
First Place recipient will receive $3,000 financial award to put toward the recipient's college or trade school.
Second Place recipient will receive $2,000 financial award to put toward the recipient's college or trade school.
A free two-year MCA-I local Detroit Chapter membership, which will provide an opportunity to network with communication professionals in the Detroit MCA-I chapter.
Scholarship Criteria:
The recipient will be selected on the basis of merit as demonstrated through:
Interest in the field of communication as shown through course of study, activities in school and personal essay
Recommendations by teachers and/or employers
Character references The MCA-I Scholarship Selection Committee will make its selection of the scholarship recipient after the application and related materials are reviewed.
